Have a question?
Jun. 2nd, 2008 12:50 pmIn the recent years, there have been more and more Johnny`s fans coming to Japan from all over the world. Be it to work, play or study, this is great because it means that more of us have the chance to see the groups and idols whom we have loved for *fill in the amount of time*, in person, on stage. However, getting tickets is not always easy, and joining fanclubs and balloting for concerts can make you feel like a newbie all over again no matter HOW long you have been a Johnny`s fan.
Although I am aware that there are many sites out there that offer FAQs or information about how to ballot for tickets, join fanclubs, etc. I want the one I am currently planning to be more driven towards the real questions you want answered. It has been three years since I went through this process myself, so I can`t remember all of the questions that I had, and I`m sure that some of them may have even changed a bit. This is where all of you come in!
My goal: A FAQ that answers real questions that you have
What this FAQ will be: A source for people to go to on LJ that will provide them with answers to real questions that they have about joining the Johnny`s Family Club, balloting for tickets, and open ticket sales
For example:
"Can I use anything other than the post office to transfer money for tickets?"
"Do I have to live in Japan to be in a fanclub?"
"What do they mean when they ask for a `registered e-mail address`?"
That said, for the ticket questions please do not ask any questions about auctions or any other ticket aquiring method beyond:
- Playguide (Loppi, or other combini tickets sales) (http://www.cnplayguide.com/)
- JTicket (http://www.cnplayguide.com/)
- Johnny`s Family Club (http://www.johnnys-net.jp/j/index.html)
Anything other than the above three are against the rules established through Johnny`s, and breaking them can result in being removed from the concert venue (at best) or facing criminal charges (at worst).
Thank-you in advance, and I`m looking forward to making a helpful and informative FAQ for everyone! :D

Date: 2008-06-02 07:26 am (UTC)I've never actually been to a concert in Japan yet, so I'm sure this would be helpful when I want to get the tickets XD

Date: 2008-06-02 08:33 am (UTC)Thanks for putting work into writing a FAQ!
For sure I will refer to it if I ever go to Japan.

Date: 2008-06-02 10:49 am (UTC)And that's the point why I think you should definitely include the not so legal ways.
It's nice to know and read how to join the FC, how balloting works and how to use the Lawson ticket machines and such. But all these don't help AT ALL if your money is just enough to allow you to fly in, pay outrageous prices on the black market and go back home. Most of us just can't afford to be in Japan long enough to join the FC or use other legal methods.
So, if you want to write an informative FAQ for EVERYONE, consider those of us too, who don't live in Japan.
Oh, and the possibility of "have a friend who is in the FC", I don't think that's a possibility at all...

Date: 2008-06-02 11:51 am (UTC)btw: i think its stupid to just fly there for concerts only (sry, dont hate me...)

Date: 2008-06-02 12:02 pm (UTC)But if I have the choice between buying the ticket overpriced and see them - or not see them at all, I guess the choice is easily to be made.
"Only for the concerts" - I should have phrased that better. I've been to Japan four times now and seen quite a few places from Hiraizumi down to Miyajima. It's just that I plan my sight-seeing around the concerts/stage plays.
Moving to Japan is at least for me no option anymore after two almost heat-strokes in September. The climate is literally trying to kill me ;_; So holidays there + stage plays all over it is ^_^
Yet, coming back to the topic: She said, the FAQ are there for everyone. The legal methods only help you, if you are living in Japan for four months at least, I'd say. So everyone who can't do that, will read the FAQ for pure interest, but won't find any further use in them. To me, FAQ should be useful.

Date: 2008-06-02 01:44 pm (UTC)I understand very well where you are coming from. I was a Johnny`s fan before I moved to Japan, and I know what it`s like to not be able to join the fanclub or get tickets that way. However, I cannot condone using illegal methods of getting tickets, and that is why I said I would not include that information in this FAQ. It`s very possible to use legal methods to get tickets if you are here for a short time, I did when I was here for a couple months for study abroad. It takes a little luck and time, but that is the case for any ticket purchasing method.
Again, thank-you for your input, and I really hope you will be able to find some of the information useful when I finish the FAQ :)

Date: 2008-06-02 10:03 pm (UTC)oh, sorry, i didnt get that - planning your sight-seeing trips around concerts is different... i just heard too many talking about only flying there for a weekend or something like that. and i am sorry that you cant live there, it seems like you have thought about moving (i think about studying there sometime myself)

Date: 2008-06-02 01:39 pm (UTC)As you pointed out, I am not going to show people the wrong ways to get tickets, and that isn`t what this FAQ is about. If people choose that way anyways, I can`t do anything to stop them, and I assume they know it`s at their own risk.

Date: 2008-06-02 01:48 pm (UTC)You ask a very valid question. Why can`t we just go to a booth and buy tickets? The short answer is that you can, but it is a booth at a combini.
Anything other than a combini sale (from a booth) is considered illegal and at your own risk. It is your choice to buy a ticket this way, of course.
In regards to empty chairs, there are a couple reasons that happens...People could have been sick, tickets just didn`t sell out (they are a new group and have a MUCH younger target fanbase than K8, NewS, or older groups like V6 or SMAP have), or people bought tickets with the intention of reselling them to make a profit. (This is also illegal).
As I mentioned in my original post and in the comments above though, I will not discuss how to illegally buy a ticket.

Date: 2008-06-03 06:41 am (UTC)base on your experience, how long the ticket will be sold after day one selling?

Date: 2008-06-02 01:05 pm (UTC)I would love too see them in concert when I go to Japan next year, but I have to see Renruki's point of view, that the legal way, whilst definitly better, could limit us. If all goes to plan I am going to be in Japan for a month next summer, but is that enough to do it legally?
I want to support the bands and not get thrown out, but it could be the only way. Its my guess that tickets for shows like Kanjani8, KinKi Kids, NewS, and KAT-TUN will sell out fast.
Which band did you see by the way? Just curious ^_^
This is a brilliant idea, I would love to read it when you have it up and running! Thanks!

Date: 2008-06-02 01:54 pm (UTC)I`ve seen pretty much all of the groups except for Kinki, TOKIO, and SMAP. :)
A month could be plenty of time, but it depends on who you want to see, where they are performing, and if they are even touring at that time. :) (I managed to get T&T tickets through combini sales when I was here on study abroad for only a couple months). Sometimes, there are no public sales, but when there are fanclub members who are not able to get tickets that they have balloted for...Shows for just about all of the groups sell fast. It`s fabulous for the guys, but not so great for fans who want to see them.
I hope that this comes in handy for you in the future! :)

Date: 2008-06-03 03:12 pm (UTC)I will definitly look forward to reading the FAQ thing, particularly about balleting because that really confuses me lol. Thanks for all of your hard work!
Once its ready, the post you will do, could you maybe post a link of the newsj_pop community? That way I will know!
Thanks!
