Tegoshi to star in movie "Shisso"

Yuya Tegoshi of NEWS has been selected for the leading role in the movie "Shisso", based on a novel by Kiyoshi Shigematsu. The movie's director is SABU, the same one who directed V6's "Hard Luck Hero".
Tegoshi will play the role of "Shuji", a troubled boy who has some serious family issues: a brother who is arrested, a father who disappears, and Shuji himself has a relationship with an older woman who happens to be associated with yakuza (gangsters). There are going to be some very intense moments in this film.
Filming will start in mid-November, coinciding with Tegoshi's 17th birthday. Tegoshi: "I didn’t expect that such a big chance would come along this fast. It would be my best birthday present."
SABU went to see SUMMARY back in August, and that is how he selected Tegoshi for the role. SABU: "He has power in his eyes. I thought he would be a good actor and I am not worried about his lack of experience."
Another quote from Tegoshi: "It is difficult to interpret his feelings in each scene. Shuji is a strong boy who is trying to protect the most important thing. I think we are alike since we both blitz along."
The producers of the film plan to enter "Shisso" into major international film festivals such as Cannes, Berlin, & Venice. As such, the film may be released overseas as well as Japan.
"Shisso" is targeted to be released in Autumn 2005.
