news_jpop | [fanart] Pirate wo Produce + bonus full colour pic

Hi! I'm working a piece of fanart and since I'm not entirely pleased with the inks, I thought I'd post the partially inked pic to test if Yamapi and Kame are at least reasonably recognizable. It's also a general 'trial run' for the concept, because no one on my flist is particularly interested in jpop fanart (*sigh*). I mean, _I_ like it, but considering that it's usually the stuff I'm most pleased with that gets the _least_ comments, well, you never know.

I got the idea for this way back when I was watching Nobuta wo Produce and realized how 'Jack Sparrow' Pi's performance is in that one. So I thought of making a pic called 'Pi-irate' featuring an angry pirate!Pi. I never did. Then I saw, quite recently on

yamaperfection's LJ, that Pi's ten-year JE anniversary is on the 27th. And then this - currently called 'Pirate wo Produce' - happened. :)

It's obviously a PotC poster parody. But no, Kame isn't 'Elizabeth'. He's 'Norrington'. Yay uniform! :D

This is inked to be coloured, which I might do tomorrow, unless this turns out to be another flop. :)

I'm thinking of having green-tinted storm clouds above Kame, and a sunset sky on YamaSparrow's side.

Speaking of Kame, you do get the puns here, right? And what that last line refers to? Or maybe I'm just terribly obscure, again.

The grey fox Pi wore during at least one MS performance has turned into an undead pygmy fox/wolf/dragon from hell. It seemed fitting. Its eyes are supposed to buuuuurrrrn. :D

But enough of my rambling! To the point: Do you think that looks like Pi and Kame? If not, what parts look _least_ like them? Nose? Jaw line? Something else?

And of course, do you like the pic, just in general?
