but usually the sales at oricon daily has always been reflected that way..
Sales for 18th is been updated on 19th, sales on 19th will be updated on 20th..and so on..

Yeah I just saw this too....I'm kinda shocked, actually. That is pretty low - OIAM got like 70000 right? Btw, on the oricon website, it's stated that the sales are considered for 19 Jan. So yeah. I hope he isn't disappointed, and that his album sales are good...especially cos it's his FIRST album. Actually most singles only contain one song right? So it's more of the fanbase that controls the sales (and of course how good the song is).

can't really blame it. considering the fact how the popularity of akb48 soared after their beginner single and has been under the spotlight after kohaku. i'll say pi met a strong opponent. (first was from the sub group of akb48 btw.)

but its ok because i think johnny's purpose is not focusing on the single but the album and the asia tour. if pi were to release just the album he can't get the chance to promote his tour on tv... right? O_o?

Ah, you have a point. I always wondered why they would release a single that's also on the album just one week prior... He wouldn't be able to make a PV for an album and promote his tour without the single now, would he?

yup! if not according to what i usually observed. pi would have appear on music station before the release to promote. and this shows how much attention johnny is giving to this single. which is like "promoting for the sake of promoting the single".

main point is still the tour. its like a foundation to his popularity not only in japan but asia as well.

I was going to buy it, especially since it's so cheap, but I decided to spend my money on preordering songs I actually like, such as Eternal. I've seen the PV for Hadakanbo and I really don't like it or the song. Which is why I didn't buy it...

It's quite shocking though - I know there's barely anything on the single, but it's not a lot for diehard Yamapi fans to pay - maybe there just aren't that many...

but, just my personal feeling and opinion, the song was kinda little weak to me... it's not bad but... it didn't grow on me at all and for example still by now i can't remember the melody or anything of the song... (the PV is nice though.)
Anyway.
It's okay, it's gonna be all fine with the album :) (i guess/hope)

those sales are the pre order sales, the sales that will come from the stores will probably come on the 2nd day which is Jan 20.

I bought both copies from my Tower Records in Kanagawa. They were sold out on the 18th... Good news though! I was told a new shipment will arrive on Thursday so hopefully the sales will keep going up.

Considering Pi is the golden boy of JE the ranking does matter, A LOT.
Looking at the figures +8K difference.How so? Usually Pi would spend the week before promoting and doin appearances, this time he was out of the country and busy promoting AnJ/Concert instead of the single. Billboards in Harajuku has the Album cover and not the Single. Either most people assume that bec Hadakanbou is in the album that ppl will just buy the album instead is kind of expected. I can slap the person who thought this strategy out. Dont put the single to be release a week ahead on an album that is to come out week after. Even if its Pi, there are still some things that should not be done. What happen.

22K is low. I think Hadakanbo is intended to be a taste teaser for the album itself so in a way it should NOT be counted like how it was with Loveless etc... Consider AKB trio's debut, 30k is low too so in this regard its doing quite well for what it is and intended to be but nonetheless a not so effective marketing strat. - Disappointed her Johnny.

Im rambling I know but 2nd place is quite a punch in the ego. Weekly sales will be better, hoping it will go and soar up to number1 I dont want Pi to perform at MS working on just 2nd place. Its not a place where he should be - and I say that as a fan. SO excuse my bias. Now to show my love .of to buy another cpy of the cd. No make that 3! though it will only count in the weekly ranking.

in japan there are more otakus than you expect (muahahaha.) plus if i didn't rmb wrongly the akb48 trio did some promotional shots in bikinis. (otaku <3 strikes!)

sex sells well in japan. (remembers heavy rotation single.) if not i cant think of the reason why akb48 is so famous in japan. they cant sing as well as the johnnys AND they are so freaking crowded/messy on stage.(ok i'm biased as well.)

well. they did try to make the single interesting by making pi half naked in the pv. but it was in silhouette form so the fangirls cant really see anything. (i am disappointed as well. D:)

There's only one song, a song which is going to be included in the album only a week later.. It was meant as a teaser for the diehard fans who don't want to wait, but I'm not sure what to compare this number to, since I can't think of other Johnny's who did it this way? Anyone know?

That being said, I'm very shocked too. And it has nothing to do with being beat by AKB, his own numbers are much, much lower than anyone anticipated. I don't understand why Yamapi fans would not buy this single? He deserves better than us. :|

I can't think of a similar case with a johnny before. Arashi has released singles with one song before, but those were something-related and didn't have an album connected so soon...

I think it also created problems the format of the single. If we could have bought the three versions at once lots of Pi fans would have done it, if only for the adorable covers (it was cheap enough!), but we couldn't be sure of what cover we were gonna get, so we didn't buy three versions of it, just one. In the next few days I'm hoping fans will go buy the version that they didn't get before, but the first day is already ruined :(

I think the covers are supposed to get people to buy multiple copies so they end up collecting all the versions? But that may have backfired.. I don't know.. Even then, unless there's some miracle, 1st week sales are most likely going to be around 60,000? Which is, just, really incredible.
I really hope all the people who sound like they're banking on the album actually bought it.. *sigh*

I would have pre-order the three versions if I knew for sure I was gonna get all three of them, but we couldn't be sure, specially since the regular version only came after the others sold out. So I think that's why fans bought less during pre-orders and I'm hoping the sales numbers go up now that fans (in Japan at least) can see all version available and buy them this first few days.

Like you said, though, I also hope the album sales are a lot higher, considering how so many fans said they chose the album over the single... I wish we could get numbers of how well Pi does internationally, specially in the countries were he's going to perform. It would give us a clearer idea of how popular he really is in Korea, Thailand, etc.

then again..the single didn't have alot in it to begin with...especially with the album coming out!!
So fingers crossed the album is a sucess. with the international tour I would guess sales will have risen!!I sure got my on order!
