How to preserve items?!
Nov. 11th, 2011 08:45 pmHAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY TO TEGO<3
Hi guys! I just bought a few CDs (used) and I was wondering how people keep their CDs in such great conditions?
1. Are there sleeves for jewel cases? Any recommendation on affordable bands/types/sizes?
2. How do you keep the obi on? I always thought the obi was INSIDE the case, like in American CDs. How do you guys keep it on and in good condition?
Also, for general Japanese magazines, what size is it? I remember when I went to Japan I saw that brand of manga/book covers and bought a random size and it didn't fit. haha.
Where do you get these?
I've never been huge on collecting things or keeping them in nice condition, but I suddenly want to protect these very expensive CDs (:
Thank you!

Date: 2011-11-12 05:06 am (UTC)I try to not tear up or destroy the plastic wrapper (but sometimes i fail). I just put back in the CD with the obi into the plastic wrapper. It's difficult to put it back in but i guess it protects it more.
TBH, i only buy CD to support them, and I have not even played the CD on the computer or the car. What i listen to is what i download, but the CD is always staying on my shelve. Opened to look at once or twice, but never played.
*Advice coming from CD owner of 53 + 1 DVD, & 2 more on the way to my house*

Date: 2011-11-12 06:35 am (UTC)I open the CD once, I take the songs, put them on my laptop, take a look at the booklet, put the obi inside the booklet, then the cd goes into bubble-wrap to never be opened again.
Dvds the same thing, since they're almost always shared, I don't even play them, I just look at the booklet once, then it goes back into bubble-wrap.
They all go into one big box label "NEWS/Tegomass".
If I find a better way to preserve my things, I'll let u know.
As for mags, I'm currently in search of what u'r looking for, so i don't really know.

Date: 2011-11-12 06:47 am (UTC)Btw,
1- NEVER leave your magazines standing, they bend that way.
2- if you're gona put the mags on top of each other, separate each one from the other with a paper (the covers get stuck together & when u try to separate them, they'll peel!).
3- keep ur mags in a plastic or leather box, coz humidity gets to them T.T
4- I suggest that you wrap each stack of mags with that spongy wrapping material, but make sure you don't bend the edges.. don't shake the box u put them in too much.
If your mags get dirty, let me know, I'll explain how to clean them.

Date: 2011-11-12 08:05 pm (UTC)I don't really "collect" mags, I just buy a few when I go to Japan, so they aren't that much of a problem for me. But wow. thank you ^_^
