Calling on the Mods!!

Is there anyone out there taking care of this community? Various spam posts keep coming and yet there doesn't seem to be anyone around to get rid of them. It's as simple as deleting them because I've done it on one of my communities.

Please, if none of you have the time or interest to care for this community - I'm sure there are others who might be interested. It's just so sad at a time when NEWS has been so active to see this long time community so untended.

I agree with Inala, and I must confess this kind of spam isn't only on NEWS community, but also on SMAP, Arashi, etc...
Maybe if just for a little while (a week or two) you moderate the post it would be easier :(

There was a previous time when darxina and spilledmilk25 tried to get the mod to do just that, but there was a problem of sorts... something like even being assigned as moderators, they still can't access some settings that only the owner can. Can't really remember. Hence the decision to make a 4-nin NEWS comm 4newsfans because this one couldn't be maintained enough.

Hi - I know that history but it doesn't change the fact that this community goes on and fans continue to join it and no one is caring for it. If the nominated community maintainers/mods cannot fill their roles, why can't they hand them on to fans who will?

Once in the past I got some action from a mod by reporting the community as abandoned to livejournal. Is is time that we do that again? They must have a more reliable way to contact someone to get their attention. The community has been repeatedly spammed and no one has taken any action even though 5 people are listed as maintainers.

However, in certain circumstances, the Abuse Prevention Team can transfer ownership of a community if it has been abandoned. Both of the following criteria must be met in order for the Abuse Prevention Team to take action:

The existing owner is unresponsive, deleted and purged, or has declared that they no longer wish to own the community.

There are situations occurring within the community – such as rampant harassment or spam – which require a maintainer's intervention.

Yes it's really misleading that your name shows up but you have no access to do anything. My comments were certainly not aimed at you.

Thanks Inala. I don't think they'll ever know about this unless you contact them via PM. I think the owner is still active on livejournal. Last time I got to talk to her (3 years ago though...)
