NEWS news (Week of 24 Apr)

A brief introduction on this new addition to the community:

There were some pieces of news that some mods thought would be nice to share, but didn’t quite warrant entire posts by themselves. That’s how this idea came up. However, even within us, it was tough trying to agree on what should or should not be included - things that matter to some may not to others, what’s sensitive to some may not be to others. It’s also hard drawing the line between gossip and news.

To begin, we decided to make weekly posts on little things we came across and may be of interest to members of the community. This is really just something in an experimental stage - we may find this hard to keep up when the boys go all quiet, or if it turns out that these updates are redundant to the majority of the community. Everything is open to feedback, so let us know your thoughts.

What we will not include - rumours, gossip, complete updates of paid content etc.

Here goes post number 1, we hope this helps those who want to know more about NEWS, but can’t afford the time to keep up!

• The Shounen Club Premium - 19 May Episode

  
  

  • Koyama mentioned in Member Ai (24 Apr) that he went for a shoot somewhere in Tohoku with Tegoshi on Sunday for SCP

  
  

  • SCP’s site: they’ve been split into Tegoshi-Koyama and Masuda-Kato pairs to go all over Japan for the “Celebrities’ Moment of Bliss” corner. This is a new corner that began in April 2017

  
  



• Last entry of “Member Ai” (28 Apr) with entry 1629 - since Jan 2005. Koyama’s new jweb will be known as “KEIICHIRO” from May and will be updated irregularly, as mentioned in his entry on 21 Apr




• In the last MemAi entry, Koyama mentioned that he was going to buy underwear for the entire group, and he apparently has, from Don Quixote. He told Massu to give his to the manager if he didn’t need them, as Massu’s very particular. Massu replied that he isn’t and that this is bad for his image, then explained that he’s always been wearing this certain style from this certain brand. And gave his share to the manager. Shige said that Koyama is now “Panta-claus” (source: Shizuoka 29 Apr concert MC)




• Koyama has recordings for “Chikarauta” on 11 & 25 May (source: fan club email)




• Last weekend (22/23 Apr), Shige went fishing with two friends to Amami Oshima. The sea was rough, he didn’t get seasick (unlike his buddies) and didn’t catch anything (unlike his buddies). He still had a lot of fun and they stayed overnight in one room like on a school trip. (source: RING 277, 26 Apr)




• Shige has been selected as the 2017 BEST KARAAGEnist for the “Male Artist Category” by the Japan ‘KAARAGE’ Association (Karaage = Japanese fried chicken)  (source: JKA site)

• Tegoshi will likely be appearing on PON! (NTV) this coming Thursday, in Buruzon Chiemi with B’s corner (source: PON!'s official twitter account).

Buruzon Chiemi is a female comedian who has been overwhelmingly popular in Japan since her appearance in a variety special during New Year’s this year. “With B” are her 2 juniors from the same agency. If you’ve watched the “Dash de ItteQ” special in early April you might have seen her collaboration with Koyama & HSJ’s Yuto as “Buruzon Chiemi with J”

• Tegoshi was in Thailand earlier this week for ItteQ (source: Shizuoka 29 Apr concert MC)




• The result for this year’s “Favourite Johnny’s Ranking” by PRIME magazine are out: Massu ranked 4th (up from 16th), Tegoshi ranked 6th (up from 17th), Shige 18th (unranked last year) & Koyama 26th (unranked last year). (sources: No. 1-15, No. 16-30)

It's kinda sad to see kei-chan's jweb changed its title, as that's what we've known from many years :( and I haven't checked for his starring on Blouson Chiemi's skit! need to check it out right now :3 and can't wait to see Tegoshi's one as well I'll be prepared for some second hand embarrassment XD
Shige is so funny with the Panta Claus lol but what's with the best karaagenist, so random XD and it makes me wonder as to why was Shige chosen? *not in a bad way ofc, just purely curious* and again, it's kinda weird that Shige was chosen under the male artist category, while they do have the male idol category which was won by aiba, just what makes them different? :/ *too many question eh?*
and lastly, MASSU! I'm really happy to see him ranked on 4th! but I can't seem to believe it somehow lol I wonder if the questionnaire was distributed amongst Johnny's fans only or was it from the public opinion haha~
