• Shige will appear on ‘Konya wa Nazotore’ on December 26th alongside fellow Johnny, Marius Yo (Sexy Zone). (Source)




• It was announced during FNS that Johnny’s Countdown will be broadcast from 23:45 on Fuji TV this year. Taichi (TOKIO) and Inohara (V6) will be hosting, and the line up was up on the same day. NEWS will be appearing. (Source)




• On the December 10th episode of ItteQ, a new segment for Tegoshi was previewed called ‘No Chara Seikatsu’ (Non-flashy lifestyle). It hasn’t been announced when it will air yet. (Source)

  • He wrote about how NEWSICAL, a project they’ve been working on since August will go on air that night, and shared some thoughts about the creation process for the script and overall flow. It’s shaped up to something he really likes and he hopes everyone would enjoy it. He’d share the details again when everyone has watched it. He ended the entry saying he’s going off for the final rehearsal.

  • He asked if everyone watched and thanked everyone. He wrote on how it was fun, how his head had been filled with all the costume making and songs these days and how he was nervous. He ended off saying he hopes a good Christmas will come to everyone.

  
  



• NEWSRING (Dec 7)

  
  

  • It was Tegoshi’s turn to update.

  
  

  • He wrote the entry during a break at home after appearing on Pon! Before his next job. He said that the collaborations as NEWS and Tegomass on FNS felt good and talked about how much he likes ‘Chemistry’ and how much they’ve influenced him.
    
    He decided to talk about the things he wants to do now that he’s 30 years old. He talked about how he loves doing new things and sense of excitement and discomfort that comes with it. He wants to try things like a solo dinner show, be the 2018 World Cup caster, see fans in Asia and overseas, put out at least 3 singles and album, and a variety of other things.
    
    At the end he randomly picked a word for the shiritori game, going with Luxembourg (ending with ‘ku’).

  • He wrote about how the last episode is coming up and that they successfully completed shooting. He included a picture of his hand resting on top of Tama’s.

  • He asked if everyone watched NEWSICAL. There might be too much to catch in such a short time, so please check out the full version again on the Christmas SP, along with the documentary to make new discoveries. He also advertised about “Tuberose de Matteru”, saying there are some book stores with the books already displayed, and all this feels very nostalgic since it’s been 2 years since his last release. He’s sure everyone would enjoy the book, so please pick it up if you see it at the bookstore. At the end of the entry, he sent a message to Koyama, saying he worked hard for his drama and as the lead of NEWSICAL, and asked him to do an appreciation dinner together or something.

  • He asked if everyone watched the last episode. He’s having a rare day off that day, and wondered what he should do. It’d be nice if someone would go over and cook for him then eat together. He replied to the entry from “Shige-chan” on Cloud, and said they’ve already agreed to do something together and thanked him for supporting him by his side this year. At the end of the entry, he posted a photo of his legs in the bathtub with a cup of latte.

  
  

• One of the directors for “NEWSICAL”, tweeted about their performance on FNS on Monday, saying NEWSICAL is a song he’s created together with NEWS over the past few months, and is filled with all of their emotions (Source)




• Takahashi Tetsuya, the musician who did the chorus arrangement and sang in the chorus for NEVERLAND, Chumu Chumu etc. mentioned NEWS in his tweet saying he’ll be participating in their live performance on FNS as part of the chorus, that it’s a huge performance they put in a lot of effort for, so please watch (Source)




• zopp mentioned Tegomass in his twitter when he saw “Tegomass” trending, likely due to the appearance of their name on the line up for FNS (Source)




• Matsuo Kiyoshi, a music producer/ composer/ lyricist who produced Tegomass’ songs such as “Sayonara ni Sayonara” and “Hitori Janai”, probably watched NEWS’ collaboration with Chemistry, as he tweeted saying he recalled how much the two of them talked about their love for Chemistry when he did producing for them. This tweet was also retweeted by the Chemistry official twitter account. (Source)




• air:man did not clearly mention who he was referring to in his tweet, but it can be deduced that he was referring to NEWS when he tweeted that the members who managed to finish that production, live, are amazing (Source)




• On December 6th, heroism tweeted:
  
  “At last, NEWS’ new single ‘LPS’ was announced. NEWSICAL and LPS were both meticulously made with lots of love from the members and staff, and the song is truly a present [from them] in that sense. I feel honored to participate in this new challenge that they’ve taken on! Please look forward to the continuation ❣️☮️” (Source)




• NEWS’ new single ‘LPS’ will be played on air for the first time on next week’s (Dec 12) Kchan NEWS. (Source)




• On December 8th, air:man, NEWS’ choreographer, tweeted a link to an Yahoo! news article about NEWS and NEWSICAL with the comment “fantastic‼️” The article is titled ‘Why is NEWS able to continue to try new things? Watch NEWSICAL which brings the 4 members’ individualities back to the group.’
  
  The article is an opinion piece and talks about how NEWS is always challenging new things and working hard to leave their mark. The author said that each member of NEWS is working hard in their respective fields and have careers to be proud of and speculated that the reason they still continuously try new things despite that, is because the existence of NEWS isn’t something they can presume. They work hard to keep NEWS going.
  
  The author went on to talk about NEWSICAL and each role the members play, and said that while it was still a little rough, in it you can begin to see a new charming part of NEWS. They said that while they applaud this new challenge, they also expect even bigger and better things from them in the future. (Source)




• When NEWSICAL was announced, it was only supposed to be locally broadcast to the Kanto region (an area of Japan made up of 7 prefectures that includes Tokyo) which has also been true of many of their past and present programs as well. Japanese fans living outside of Kanto started to campaign to get it to air at their local Fuji TV affiliated stations using the hashtag #NEWSICAL全国へ届けっ (#LetsBringNEWSICALtoTheWholeCountry). Many fans messaged and called their local stations and due to their efforts the prefectures that NEWSICAL will air in, either at the same time as Kanto or delayed, keeps expanding. You can see a map of where it will air (as of 12/08) here, all the prefectures filled in red will air NEWSICAL.

• Emori Takeaki, who designed the covers of ‘Tuberose de Matteru’, tweeted about how the designs of the two are connected even though the picture in the set has them backwards for the bundle set on Amazon. He also said that the colors look faded in the picture. (Source)




• Tanaka Ichihiko, one of the TV writers for “Typewriters” also tweeted about the display of “Tuberose de Matteru”, saying that the books aren’t arranged such that the design joins up. And that he hopes the book sells (Source)




• On December 10th NEWS’ Christmas videos went up on Johnny’s net, you can view the short version at the same place as their written messages here, and the long version is available to FC members.
