  • Sorashige Book (Dec 10)

    • In the beginning of the show Shige did PR. He asked if everyone had watched FNS and talked about how the full version/Director’s cut of NEWSICAL would air on Christmas and the release of LPS and Neverland DVD & Blu-ray.

    • ♪ Snow Dance  ♪

    • For music club this week he talked about an artist he really likes and said that he listened to all throughout the run of Green Mile. He wanted to talk about them right away, but their album came out on 11/29 so he decided to wait for it to be released first.

He read a message from a listener about the artist, Mukai Taichi, they talked about how much they like him and said that Shige seems to prefer female vocalists and asked that he try listening to male vocalists occasionally to which he replied that he does like them.

He said that he thinks that Mukai Taichi will only get bigger and took some time to read some facts from his biography. He talked about how in his debut album last year, every song was really good and talked more about his latest album, ‘Blue’. He said that he feels like singer songwriters with such a wide range are rare, and that every song is so good that it was hard to pick which one to play but he eventually picked the song ‘FREER’.

    • Shige said that he thinks by now Tuberose de Matteru hass probably already hit the shelves so he decided to read some messages about it. They talked about how it would be split into two volumes and how Shige skipped over the usual naming conventions and called them ‘age 22’ and ‘age 32’ which she thought was very Shige-like. She said that she’s looking forward to it, and seeing what changes there are from the serialization.

Shige said that he didn’t write Tuberose with the intention of it being split into two volumes, but that’s just how it ended up being so that it’s easier to read and carry around.

    • The next listener also wrote in about Tuberose and said that they had reread the serialization in preparation for the novels and that they were looking forward to it.

Shige said that in his image of it, age 22, is like a serial drama, (S: Saying age 22 everytime is going to get really tiring (laughing) I’ll just call it the 22 version [in Japanese]) since he wrote it as a serialization and was trying to create excitement for each release. Making it into a novel was like taking it and changing into the stage play version. Getting rid of unnecessary parts and adding things as well. He added a lot to it and that makes up the age 32 volume. He hopes that people who read the serialization will also read the book version.

    • Next Shige decided to talk about NEWSICAL but said that as of the recording time he didn’t know how it turned out.

In the next letter the listener said that NEWSICAL had just been announced and that they were really excited. They said commented on how much work Shige’s been doing since he’s been working on NEWSICAL since the summer on top of Tuberose and Green Mile. They said that they’re looking forward to it.

The next letter was also about NEWSICAL. They said they were really surprised that the work for NEWS that Shige had hinted at was this. They’ve always wanted to see the other NEWS members act out Shige's writing so they’re really happy. They think it’s really great that all the member’s individual activities and work have come back into this. They said that Shige is really cool and they really respect him.

The next letter was from a listener who said that they were really surprised by the announcement of NEWSICAL and thought that it was true proof that their individual actives come back to the group. They said that while they are really happy, they can’t help but think about how amazing it is that Shige was working on so many things simultaneously and wondered how many Shige’s there actually were.

Shige that he was really happy to hear that so many fans seemed to be excited about it. He had really wanted to talk about it, and while it may seem like a lot just with Green Mile and Tuberose- He said that he met so many time with Johnny’s Entertainment, it was like practice meeting practice meeting. He said since he was the one working on it since the beginning it was a really long project, he said that Massu making the costumes also seemed very difficult though he doesn’t much about the details regarding that. He thinks that the costumes Massu made were really interesting, and Tegoshi also did a lot of studying for it, and Koyama did the lead despite not having a lot of time with every and the drama. He said it really was challenging, with writing a novel everything is your own responsibility, but with a big project like this it’s not just his own responsibility, if even one thing goes wrong it can all go wrong. He said it’s really interesting and difficult to work on a big project like this with a lot of people. He said it was fun though, and he got to work a lot with air:man, and they tend to like the same things. He said that for people wondering how they made it, there will be footage of the airing on the 25th too. While there were a lot times the camera wasn’t running too, a lot of what he did was filmed. He’s looking forward to it, and grateful to be given this opportunity.

    • The guest this week was Massu again.

    • First they talked about how they’ve been producing shows for Shonen Club Premium, and how Massu recently did and even produced a new song for it, ‘JUMP AROUND’. Koyama asked Massu how involved he’d been with it and Massu said that it was pretty much the same as when they make their solo songs. He also came up with the title.

    • Koyama read a message from a listener about it, they asked what it means when it says that Massu produced the song, what did he do?

Massu said that he decided who would sing every line, and the whole organization of the song. For instance, deciding like here’s the bridge, the rap here, Tegoshi’s part. He also decided the theme of the lyrics and the key. He did quite a lot, and said that he’s also looking forward to making into a full-length song. Koyama and Massu said that it’s be nice if they could get it to the fans, once it’s decided that it’ll be released Massu will work on it more like deciding if in they should should add another bridge or have Tegoshi’s part again, things like that. Koyama commented on how Massu likes it when songs suddenly change in the middle, and how it’s possible that the beginning will be completely different and mimicked Tegoshi’s falsetto in Kingdom. They asked everyone to look forward to it.

    • They also talked about how they also announced a new single to be released on January 17th, ‘LPS’. Massu jokingly asked what LPS stood for and said it was for Lipopolysaccharide. Koyama clarified that it stands for ‘Love Peace Smile’, before introducing the song and Massu scolded Koyama for not properly introducing it before playing for the first time and Koyama said that having people hear it is most important.

    • ♪ LPS ♪

    • After the song finished playing both Koyama and Massu clapped and commented on how they didn’t really properly introduce it. Massu said that Koyama should have said something like ‘Playing for the first time!! Please listen!!’ They said that they also filmed a music clip for it and asked everyone to look forward to it.

    • The next message was from a listener who brought up how Koyama wrote in his jweb about running into Massu while out shopping. He included a picture in the entry but they couldn’t tell if it was of Massu or Koyama and asked him to clarify.

Koyama said that they met when they both went to the same sale, and Shige had gone to the same sale later. Koyama said that the picture was of him in the NTV parking lot, and Massu said that there’s no way he would appear on Koyama’s blog. Koyama laughed agreeing saying that it’s hard to get a picture of Massu, and to do it he’d have to take it in secret. Koyama commented on how Massu’s been updating his jweb too and they asked everyone to look forward to them.

Koyama commented that it wasn’t really by chance that he ran into Massu since really he just started to go to a sale that Massu and Shige have been going to. Massu agreed and said that Koyama shouldn’t have said ‘I ran into Massu!’ in his blog but rather that he was able to go where Massu always goes. Koyama said that it would be a miracle if Massu appeared in one of his pictures, and asked people to wait for it saying that maybe he’ll take one secretly and Massu asked him to cut it out.

    • The next message from a listener asked what job they would want to try if they were women. She said that if she were a man she’d definitely be handsome so she wants to be an idol and call out to her ‘koneko-chan’ (M: This person’s like Tegoshi!) She also asked them to share what things they’d want to try if they were women.

Massu commented on how the message seems to have come from someone like Tegoshi and Koyama agreed saying that they appear to have a lot of confidence in themselves. Koyama asked Massu what he thought and Massu turned the question back to Koyama. Koyama said that he’d like to try being a dental hygienist. They talked about the strictness of what they’re allowed to wear or put on, for instance manicured nails and Koyama said that he really likes it when you see dental hygienists looking a bit stylish. And Massu said that really it’s just coming down to the uniform, it’s the same with nurses. Koyama said that it’s the feeling that a person properly wearing a uniform is conscious of their appearance outside of work too. Massu said that it makes you want to see their casual clothes.

Massu said that he didn’t have any jobs he’d want to do if he were a woman, he’d just want to work in a clothes store or something. Koyama asked him what kind, like in a department store and then mimicked the way the shop girls call out greetings to customers. Massu answered right away that that's not what he meant, he’d want to work in a high fashion brand, and said that when you go into those stores there are women there wearing suits. He wants to be one that can do their job really well, like they can pick out just the right item for their customer.

Koyama said he understood, someone who is competent in their job and put together and asked Massu about the idea of a woman who’s like that but in some area she’s not as put together. Massu asked Koyama what he meant, and Koyama brought up the dental hygienist example again, and she’s put together but maybe it seems like she’s behind on dying her hair.

Massu asked Koyama how he’d feel about someone who did a clean job like that but actually their house was messy, and he said it’s no good. Massu brought up a few other examples Koyama didn’t like to tease him, like if they didn’t wash their tumbler for a week. Koyama speculated that a person who was okay with not washing their tumbler for a week probably isn’t bothered by anything. Massu asked what about someone whose necklace is all rusty around where it touches the skin? Koyama answered that he’d want them to pay attention to that. Massu added what about someone who’s stockings are all torn up, Koyama said that a bit of a run in the stocking of someone who is otherwise really put together is kind of sexy, but it’s no good if they’re all torn up, he’d wonder what happened to them.

    • The last letter asked them if they buy ‘fukubukuro’ (lucky bags, bags of an assortment of items from a store, usually blind but sometimes not, that go on sale on new year's day. They’re supposed to be a very good deal for your money and people will line up for hours to be able to buy ones from popular stores.) The listener said that they heard that ‘experience fukubukuro’ have been popular lately, for example ones where you can experience being a dolphin trainer. She asked if NEWS were to sell an ‘experience fukubukuro’ what kind of experience would it be?

Koyama was surprised that such fukubukuro existed, and they wondered what kind of bag you buy that that kind of experience is inside, Koyama said there’s no need for it to be called a ‘fukubukuro’ at that point.

Koyama asked Massu what a NEWS fukubukuro would be like, for instance if they had one of NEWS goods, and it’s possible that they also have an ‘experience’ one? They both agreed that ‘experience fukubukuro’ don’t count as real fukubukuro, but if they were to do one Koyama suggested if they did one were 10 people would be able to come see them perform at a small concert or get their makeup done by Tegoshi’s makeup artist, and they can get their makeup done like him. Massu agreed that that would be interesting, they could have one for all of their hair stylists and you can get the same style as them. Lastly, Massu suggested being able to try all the Johnny’s concert things, like flying in harnesses, going on the cranes, and popping up on stage. Koyama added that they could have the junior experience like setting up the mic stands for NEWS.

    • At the end they did PR for the FIFA Club World Cup and Kingdom and for the Neverland Tour DVD going on sale.
