NEWS news (week of Apr 30) - Part 1

This week's updates begin with details of Shige's new drama, the news came in just as we were preparing to get the posts up!

• On May 7th, it was announced that Shige will appear in a NTV Drama starting July, called ‘Zero - Ikkakusenkin Game’ based off of the manga, ‘Tobaku Haōden Zero’ by Nobuyuki Fukumoto airing on Sundays at 10:30pm making this Shige’s first time playing the main role in a prime time drama. Shige’s character, Ukai Zero, is a teacher at a cram school and genius gambler who saves the weak from the underside of society. The other three members will also be making appearances in the drama, though it isn’t yet known who will appear in what episode as which character.
  Shige is quoted as saying that when he read the original work, he couldn’t stop reading and that his heart was racing even after he finished reading. Regarding the other members appearing in the drama as well, Shige said ‘I’m really moved [to have the other members appear]. It’s a bit embarrassing to act together, but I want to enjoy this opportunity as much as possible.’ Koyama also commented that he’d like to use the drama as an opportunity to further celebrate NEWS’ 15th anniversary, and hopes they can be of help to Shige.
  The official website is also up, with comments from the members. Tegoshi says while it's nervous to be on the same as as the members, he's looking forward to getting delicious food from Shige on the days when Tegoshi has to be on set. Massu says it's extremely fresh to be able to act with Shige and he's happy about that. He'll do his best, so much so that it's as if he will overshadow the lead. Please look forward to the drama that all of NEWS will be apearing in.

  • He shared that he was with the members and juniors recording SCP when the clock struck 12, and they celebrated for him. He also said he received a pair of super rare shoes from Massu, who had the present placed on his table in the dressing room at NHK.
    He ended the entry by sharing his NEWS ni Koishite luck for the day - super lucky from Shige.
    The photo he posted showed him with the NEWS tattoo on his ring finger.

  • It was Tegoshi’s turn to update this week
    He talked about how not having anyone who dislikes or criticizes you means that you are not yet a superstar. He also wrote about how Shige is working really hard, and seeing that motivates him to work hard too. He, Shige, staff and juniors went out to eat after the Hiroshima concerts, and afterwards the two of them listened in on the junior’s meeting to discuss the concert. He said he treasures their opinions. He said that there are announcements coming so please look forward to them.

  • It was a short entry where he said he just wanted to do this, and posted a photo of himself spoofing a gag by comedian Hyokkorihan.

  
  



• So Good Day (May 7)

  
  

  • Matsushima Sou (Sexy Zone) wrote about how he wants to add more Call and Response parts to their concerts, parts where it’s interactive which you can only do when there’s a closeness between the members and the fans. He said that NEWS is really amazing in that sense, and the bond between the NEWS members and the group and the fans is really deep.

  
  

• Next week there will not be a NEWS news update as usual due to a busy upcoming week or so for the mods. The updates will resume the week after that with a pared down version of updates for the two week period. Thanks to everyone who reads and comments!
