Sorashige Book (Apr 29)
Shige opened up by commenting on how it was already Golden Week, and the Hiroshima concerts.
The first letter was about the liner notes he wrote about Epcotia on jweb. They thanked him for writing them and said that it made them love the songs even more. They asked him if he wrote them while listening to the music.
The next letter was also about the liner notes, and said that they thought it must have been very difficult to write. They said that they could feel Shige’s passion, and made them pay more attention to the songs and the lyrics.
Shige said that he was happy to hear that. He said that this is his 3rd year doing it but that it really is very tough. He said spend 10s of hours on them, he checked how long it ended up being total and was surprised to see that it was a bit over 20,000 characters. That’s over twice the length of one installation of his serialization in anan, and he listens to the songs over and over. He talked about how since he does write music for work he listens to it as an artist which may be different than your average listener. It’s totally fine to just like a song, but you’ll start to see new things once you dig into why a song is good.
Though he does ask the people who wrote the songs and lyrics questions such as what they were thinking when they wrote it, but he relies more on listening to the song and looking at the lyrics while writing his notes. They’re just his personal interpretation. He’d be happy if it changes the way you enjoy music, or enjoy NEWS’ songs more, become more interested in music. He added that it might sound condescending, but he grew up reading a lot of things like this. He joked also that he’s a little sad that the notes seems to have gotten more response than his novels, but speculated that it’s because the people who support NEWS like music. He’s glad that everyone seems to enjoy them.♪ Hoshi ni Negai wo ♪
The next letter was from a listener who commented that Shige might not have a lot of time to listen to music while on tour. They said that they listened to the album, ‘Golden’ by Kylie Minogue saying that like Justin Timberlake’s recently release (which Shige played on the radio previously), it has a country-ish dance sound to it.
Shige said that actually he does listen to a fair amount of music during tour because they spend a lot of time moving from place to place. He said that he’s been looking forward to the album since it was announced in January. He talked about the album and Kylie Minogue for awhile, then played her song ‘Dancing’.Shige said that he can’t talk about spoilers during the tour, but said he’d read a letters about the tour that can serve as ‘hints’ to those who haven’t been yet. The letter was from a listener who commented on how physically demanding the tour is this year, their friend who came with them commented that they’ve never seen NEWS dancing so hard before. Shige skimmed through the rest skipping over spoilers, the listener said that watching the concert made them think that rather than Shige being unathletic maybe it’s just that they earth’s gravity is too strong.
The next letter was from a listener who said that she saw the concert in Sapporo. They said that to be honest she was worried about whether she would like Epcotia as much as Neverland, but it was really amazing and she really loved it, it was even a step up and made them happy seeing how many things NEWS can do. They commented on the dancing too.
Shige said that once you see the concert, you’ll understand but they’ve been very particular about their productions. Since they’re idols, they need to put everything into their dance and performance.
He said that as a routine he’s been doing physical training, including kick boxing. Including getting bigger for Green Mile, his body has undergone a lot of changes this year. He didn’t expect the tour to be this hard, but he’s trying to build a body and can hold up to it all.The next letter was from a listener who asked if Shige is aware of ‘Kinbure’ penlights. They commented on how they’re becoming more popular at Johnny’s concerts, and wanted to know if he agreed with people using them or if he would prefer they use the NEWS penlights.
Shige said that to put it bluntly, he’s against them. He’d be happiest if people used the tour’s penlight, but understands that some people might not be able to afford them, or might not have time to buy them, so he’s not saying that you have to buy it. But, they think of they penlight as part of the set and performance, and it gives the audience a sense of unity. When there’s one light that sticks out, it makes him feel like ‘Wouldn’t it be more fun to feel like we’re building this concert together?’♪ Innocence ♪
Kchan NEWS (May 1)
The guest this week was Tegoshi.
They opened up by noting that it was Golden Week and Tegoshi wished Koyama a happy birthday. Koyama opened up a present from Gai-san and it was treats for Milk. Tegoshi asked Koyama what his resolution is and Koyama said that NEWS is in great form getting ready for summer. They hinted that there are a lot of things in the works that they’re looking forward to announcing.
The first message was from a listener who said that they went to Epcotia in Shizuoka. In a good sense, it betrayed all their expectations, with lots of surprises. They said that they’re happy that NEWS is doing concerts in their hometown and asked what they did while in Shizuoka.
They said that they went out to eat Japanese food, and the two of them were together in the same car on the way back after. They ate unagi, and Koyama said that the drive back was pretty long and he was pretty sleepy. He thought it was kind of Tegoshi that he asked him if it was ok if he played games on his phone. Tegoshi countered that of course he would ask, because he knew Koyama was tired and though that he might want to nap. Koyama said Tegoshi was being pretty quiet, but then when he would get shot in the game he would yell quite loudly which was more jarring than him just playing regularly.
Koyama commented on how Tegoshi’s been playing the same game without getting sick of it, and Tegoshi agreed saying that he plays it til 5am everyday and the day before the recording he had a pro gamer sleep over at his house.
Koyama asked Tegoshi where he met him, and Tegoshi said that his friend connected them. They had spoken via voice chat before, but this was the first time the met face to face. They went out to dinner together, but missed the last train so they took a taxi together and he stayed over at Tegoshi’s place. The next day Tegoshi had filming for ItteQ so he stayed until Tegoshi had to leave for that. Tegoshi said that his pro gamer friend is really really good at the game, so he was really happy when he said that Tegoshi was good at it.♪ Kingdom ♪
The next letter was from a listener who said that they wanted advice from the love master, Tegoshi. They wanted to know how to tell the difference between liking a friend in a platonic way versus in a romantic way. She has a male friend who she’s really close to, but not sure if she likes him as a friend or something more. Her friends see how close they are and tell them to date already, but he’s a soushoku danshi and she can’t really picture being lovey dovey with him. However, they have a lot of fun together and if he were to get a girlfriend and they grew apart she’d be lonely. She doesn’t know what to do.
Tegoshi said that it’s not good that the numbers of soushoku danshi are growing in Japan. He said that a soushoku idol would never succeed, because to be successful you have to be proactive on various fronts. He said that it’s difficult, of course friends go out to eat one on one, but said that you don’t feel like you want to kiss or hold hands or do more with someone you don’t want to be with. He said that he thinks it’s up to whether she feels like she wants to kiss him. He said that no matter who you are, actor, prime minister, firefighter, police, or even idol, you’ll have friends who are of the opposite gender, and there are times you’ll go out to eat with them. They go out to eat with friends of the opposite gender as well. But if you don’t think of them as more than a friend then you won’t have the urge to kiss them, he thinks that’s the deciding factor.
If it’s as she says that she can’t picture kissing him or being lovey dovey with him, then she probably just likes him as a friend. Koyama speculated that it may be different from the guys’ side, and Tegoshi said he’s never been soushoku-kei so he can’t relate, and then started joking around and then mid sentence started talking to Emma. Getting back on track, he said that though it’s possible that the guy has romantic feelings for her, since it has to be mutual if the letter writer doesn’t feel the same way then it won’t turn into a romance. Koyama said that he’s also not soushoku-kei, and Tegoshi asked if there’s any idols out there who are soushoku-kei, saying that out of those succeed [in the business] there aren’t any people who are soushoku-kei. They both agreed that you have to work hard because you want to be popular, and be proactive.
T: Can we do one more? Two more? Three more? Michael Jackson, This is it! [In Japanese it kind of rhymes]

Koyama encourage Tegoshi to do an impression of the comedian duo Hyokkorihan which he did.The next letter was from a listener who said that they like the color pink and like sleeping in cute roomwear, but her mother doesn’t understand and says that since she’s asleep anyway it doesn’t matter. They wanted to know what Koyama and Tegoshi think and what kind of roomwear they like on girls.
Koyama said that he liked pajamas on girls, and Tegoshi said that he liked the really fluffy type. Tegoshi said that he also liked just a big tshirt, and Koyama agreed. Tegoshi started goofing off again and making ‘roar’ sounds and Koyama complained saying that things Tegoshi says often get picked up by online news articles, and they just pick up fragments and don’t make any sense.
Tegoshi said that his friends also scold him for saying things that don’t make any sense when they see those articles online, and he’ll wonder when he said those things and he’s amazed at what gets picked up by the news. This segwayed into how Tegoshi’s always being spotted at various places. He told the story how his mother called him when he was filming for ItteQ asking him if he was at Kanazawa station, because online it was spreading around that a man asked him if he was Tegoshi and he said he was and then shook his hand. He said if that’s true, then who the heck is this filming ItteQ right now?? Koyama burst out laughing and said that there’s multiple Tegoshis. Tegoshi said that he said this in the Fukuoka MC, but ‘Are there really other guys out there as cool as me?’ He said that though there are a lot of other blond guys out there, he’s never seen anyone that looks like him before. Koyama commented on how Tegoshi’s been calling himself good looking recently, and Tegoshi said that if he didn’t think so he wouldn’t be able to go up on stage.
He went on talk about the other recent sightings, including holding hands with a girl in Roppongi and they both said it would be crazy if that were really Tegoshi and wondering who it is that looks so much like him. He said after that he apparently was in Azabujuban smiling and chatting with Massu while wearing pink crocs.
K: Member color!!
Tegoshi said that when he goes there to eat he wouldn’t go in crocs. He said even though he’s currently mid-tour apparently he was in Azabujuban. Tegoshi said that when he heard from his friend he burst out laughing. That night when he was supposedly out, was the night his pro gamer friend slept over. Koyama commented on how they don’t really look at that kind of stuff, but their friends look out for it for them. They wondered why people believe these things so much.♪ Happy Ending ♪
While Koyama was reading out the ending information, Tegoshi made a bunch of weird noises and then they talked about how this weekend are the Osaka concerts.
